Rev. Walsh
History
1939 - 1942
Father Joseph J. Walsh was born and raised in Chicago. He was ordained by Bishop Vehr on June 4, 1935.
It was said that "he radiated cheerfulness and good humor.
Organized the first Pinochle Club that met every Monday in the church basement. It became very popular and many people from Grand Junction joined in.
He was also the first Priest to issue a Sunday Bulletin.
Father Walsh left Fruita in 1942 when he enlisted in the Army as a Chaplain during WWII.
Father Walsh died 1960.
